2nd Annual Alternative Process Photography Exhibition

Juried by Max Kellenberger, Mark Nelson & The Image Flow

September 9 – November 22, 2017
Opening Reception: Saturday, September 9, 7–9PM

The Image Flow proudly presents our 2nd Annual Alternative Process Photography Exhibition, a juried exhibition featuring 40 artists working with a wide variety of historical and analog photographic printing processes.

Ambrotype, bromoil transfer, color carbon, chemigram, cyanotype, gum bichromate, kallitype, mordançage, photogravure, platinum, and tintype / wet plate collodion processes (along with many multiple-process works) are all represented in this show. Each image is often one of a kind due to the nature of working with these non-commercial processes—mixing emulsions, coating materials by hand, and hand-embellishing prints are all customary to alternative process work. The images are made using a variety of unique materials including fine art watercolor papers, fabrics, patinaed copper plates, and fused glass.

This year we have expanded our call for entry to photographers across the nation. The exhibition is curated from over 370 submissions from artists living and working throughout the United States—from Kailua, Hawaii photographer Kenyatta Kelechi to Scotch Plains, New Jersey glass artist Russ Wills, along with many California and San Francisco Bay Area photographers.

The 2nd Annual Alternative Process Photography Exhibition features work by: Chris Austin, Francis Baker, Allan Barnes, Lesley Nowlin Blessing, Cathy Cakebread, Eunsook Chung, Bridget Conn, Felicity Crush, Conor Culver, Ellen Davis, Emma Earnshaw, Rory Earnshaw, Ashley Valmere Fischer, Brian Garbrecht, Gary Geboy, Tom Hawkins, Kristy Headley, Henrietta’s Eye (Libby Bulloff & Stephen Robinson), Mike Hoover, Tsu-Han Hwang, Kenyatta Kelechi, MengHseun Lee, Ah Young Lee, Rachel  Liu, Travis Lovell, Haoran Ma, Erin Malone, Jocelyn Mathewes, Molly McCall, Sean Peeler, Molly Lorraine Phalan, Michael Puff, Tony Sehgal, Larry Shapiro, Sara Silks, Alice Stern, Melanie Temmer, Art Widener, Russ Wills, and Yelena Zhavoronkova.
