Michelle Grenier & Pei Ketron Lecture: The Evolution of the Art of iPhone Photography

Michelle and Pei will be co-presenting a lecture on the evolution and current state of the art of iPhone photography, with lots of ideas on how beginners and experienced photographers alike can best utilize their mobile devices. As Chase Jarvis now famously said, “The best camera is the one that’s with you.” Recent years have seen a tremendous rise in smartphone usage and along with it an explosion in mobile photography. Instagram is now being used by over 150 million people each month, including many professional artists and hobbyists who have come to hold their iPhone as an extension of their work and a fun, convenient, and powerful creative tool in its own right. Learn how photographers Michelle and Pei have explored the iPhone camera technology and editing apps to get the most out of capturing, processing, and sharing images on the go. Through a beautiful slideshow presentation, they’ll share tips and techniques, insights and inspiration.
Bios:
michelle 13Michelle Grenier is a passionate mobile photographer. She majored in art history in college and further developed her eye through a career in documentary filmmaking. After discovering Instagram in 2011, she found a creative outlet in the art of iPhone photography and quickly became a suggested user, developing a following of over 100,000. Michelle has been featured in photography campaigns for major brands including Samsung and Nike. She is an avid explorer and location scout, drawing primary inspiration from the landscapes and natural wonders of the Bay Area she calls home. Pei Ketron is a photographer, educator, and traveler based in San Francisco. Pei was born in Taiwan and raised on the Navajo Nation in Arizona as part of a biracial household. As a child, she spent summers enduring the monsoons of the tropics and running around barefoot in the deserts of the southwest. Having evolved from her background as a public school teacher, Pei has taught photography classes privately and through companies such as Skillshare, Edelman, and the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops. In addition to her experience with DSLR and medium-format film photography, Pei is also an accomplished mobile photographer and has amassed a following of well over half a million users on Instagram. Pei specializes in commercial, travel, and humanitarian work worldwide.
