Motion Blur & Long Exposure

Learn how to take long exposure photos for painterly, expressive images using motion blur and slow shutter speed.
with Leanne Hansen

Develop your artistic eye and sharpen your technical skills using motion blur and long exposure photography techniques in this four-session photography workshop with photographer Leanne Hansen. Through lessons and critiques, you will expand your practical knowledge of your camera’s settings and photographic vocabulary.

We will experiment with panning photography and other techniques that you can use to create dynamic images expressing the speed, motion, energy, and essence of a scene. The Zoom session will highlight technical long exposure settings for your camera as they relate to capturing and creating motion in your photography. We will also discuss best practices for identifying potential subjects and working with light and composition to create original, unforgettable photographs.

Put your classroom learning into practice with illuminating outdoor shooting sessions in the beautiful evening light of the San Francisco Bay Area, perfect for motion blur photography! This workshop includes a Zoom intro, two in-field shooting sessions, prints, and an in-person print critique session.
