Call to Artists Terms and Conditions

This national call for entry is open to all artists living or working in the United States.  Accepted entries will be exhibited at The Image Flow in San Anselmo, CA, and on our online gallery. *IMPORTANT*: PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM AND PROMOTION FOLDERS FOR EMAILS REGARDING YOUR APPLICATION


This call is open to artists worldwide, both amateur and professional. All entries must be original works of art and entirely the work of the entrant. Open to photography mediums (film, digital, alternative process, printmaking, digital art) except film/video & mixed media.

Registration & Fees

$20  – up to 4 images $5 for each additional image beyond 4. You may enter up to 8 images total. Payment is non-refundable and does not guarantee acceptance.  

Image File Requirements

Please name all image files as “Last Name_First Name_Artwork Title_Year” 2500 px on the longest edge, 72 PPI, JPG saved at 80% quality in sRGB colorspace.  *File size must be limited to 5MB* Please note: Selected images and titles will be printed in the exhibition catalog directly from the information accompanying each file. Your personal information and image data will be our only source of information. Be certain that your name, titles, dates, dimensions, and sale prices are accurate. 


Awards will be given in the following categories: 

    • Best of Show – Adults: $200 TIF Gift Certificate
    • 2nd Place Adult: $150 TIF Gift Certificate
    • 3rd Place Adult: $100 TIF Gift Certificate
    • Best of Show Youth (ages 11–18): $100 Gift Certificate
    • 2nd Place Youth: $75 Gift Certificate 
    • 3rd Place Youth: $50 Gift Certificate
    • Honorable Mentions Awards: Photoshop Instructional Videos – 6 Hours
    • Jury Selects: Exhibited at The Image Flow Gallery in San Anselmo, CA, and online.

Selection Process

The show will be curated and juried by Deanne Fitzmaurice, Henrik Kam & Penny Wolin. Submissions will be evaluated based on artistic value and interpretation of the Community theme. Please note that due to the volume of entries, the jury is unable to provide individual feedback. Subject matter must be appropriate for public spaces and respectful towards all cultural and ethnic backgrounds.  The following elements will not be accepted:

  • Overt sexual content or graphic nudity. 
  • Political imagery or religious iconography. 
  • Violent, sorrowful, or disturbing themes or subjects, including images of weapons.

Exhibition Details

Selected artwork will hang in The Image Flow’s main gallery space for approximately 2 months. Due to social distancing concerns, there will be no reception for this exhibition. The exhibition will be open to the public by appointment or during The Image Flow’s regular business hours.

Accepted Artwork

As an exhibition artist please check your email for accepted work delivery instructions after the winners have been announced. Notifications are sent out about 3-4 weeks after the submission deadline. Selected photographs will be posted on our website upon receiving decisions from the jury. 


Artists exhibiting at the Gallery may offer their work for sale at a price of their choosing. The Image Flow encourages sales during exhibitions and retains a 50% commission on work sold. The artist receives 50% of the sale price after shipping fees. For further responsibilities regarding the sale of artwork, please contact the gallery. Pieces that are not sold can be sent to the original artists at the artist’s expense. 

Shipping & Insurance

The Image Flow carries insurance for loss or damage to artwork in the exhibit but not in transit. In the event of a sale, artists are responsible for all shipping charges to and from the gallery. Artists are also responsible for providing their own shipping insurance coverage if desired. FedEx (preferred) or UPS only.


Artists retain all copyrights to their own images. Artists whose work is chosen for exhibition inclusion grant The Image Flow permission to use images for promoting the exhibition, artist, or The Image Flow and its programs, and current and past exhibitions. Images may be placed on social media for promotion and features. Artists grant usage as stated without further compensation.

Consent Criteria

As artists participating in one of our shows, you are consenting to be added to our mailing list to receive updates for promotional information about the show. Please also feel free to follow us on social media for relevant promotion across the board at @theimageflow and “The Image Flow” on respective platforms.

After the Show

If your art does not sell at the exhibition you have the option to pick up the unframed print or have it shipped at the artist’s expense.
