Pei Ketron is a San Francisco-based photographer who has followed an unconventional road to photographic success. After more than ten years of slowly building a photography business as a side job while working as a public school teacher, her career exploded when social media, specifically Instagram, became huge. She now has over 830K followers on Instagram.
Suddenly, Pei was able to leave her day job and found herself getting paid to travel the world and take photographs for major brands and dream clients—and she did most of her shooting with an iPhone.
Her photography spans a number of styles and genres, from travel and commercial photography to portraits and abstracts. She’s been featured in Condé Nast Traveler, Time, 7×7, and many more publications. Her clients include Adobe, American Express, Carnival Cruises Mercedes, and UNICEF. She’s taught photography workshops at Skillshare, the Firefly Institute, and Creative Live (not to mention The Image Flow), as well as one-on-one classes and travel mentorships. She’s known as an engaging speaker and has even spoken at South by Southwest (SXSW).
So how did it all happen?
Joins us at The Image Flow on Tuesday, February 7, to hear Pei talk about unusual career path and how her photography has evolved over time as she shares some of her favorite images.
